Founded in 1980, Ashoka is home to the largest network of social entrepreneurs on a global scale. Billy Drayton is the CEO and founder, and has been a social entrepreneur since he was an elementary-school student. Vistage is committed to CEO and executive coaching, leadership development and business mentoring. Those who are interested in giving back can also become a CEO coach with Vistage. The organization is made up of more than 20,000 business leaders worldwide with a members-only online network. In 1997, six seasoned entrepreneurs met in Seattle to plan the first ever gathering of social entrepreneurs. The first event took place from November 12-15, 1998 in Colorado Springs, and SEA has been providing entrepreneurs with resources and networking opportunities ever since. I’ve been in difficult times, and one of the best resources has been getting involved and experiencing some of the communities and organizations below that truly want to help entrepreneurs through those hard times.

EO History

The Entrepreneur’s Club, or TEC, is an international network of thousands of high-tech entrepreneurs, executives and business professionals. It was established in 2003, and hosts 10 yearly events in Silicon Valley, as well as seminars that are centered around case studies. Also, if you’ve ever thought about teaching others, giving back and being a part of the development of future entrepreneurs and businesses, then it’s time for you to get involved in a high-caliber organization. Here are 10 organizations every entrepreneur ought to be a part of. The Global Entrepreneur Indicator (GEI) began in 201014 as a semi-annual survey of the membership of the Entrepreneurs’ Organization. Executive Education:

Ashoka provides everything from start-up financing, networking opportunities to professional support systems. The ELF also has the beneficial tool, YourEconomy.org which tracks the performance of over 44 million businesses in the U.S. Again, choosing the right cause is personal, but these 10 organizations offer impactful ways for entrepreneurs to give back.

BrainTrust is an organization designed specifically for women business owners looking to accelerate their growth. The group points out that while women are starting businesses at twice the rate of men, only 1.7% of women-owned ventures reach annual revenues of $1 million or more. FoundersCard, this is an organization that has over 15,000 members who enjoy generous networking events and many discounts are provided. For example, FoundersCard offers members discounts on travel expenses, business products and services, and even VIP benefits to improve your lifestyle.

We ended up winning the Midwest award, but even if we hadn’t, the process would still have been eye-opening. I hadn’t been interviewed since way before we started this last company, and the process helped us become more self-aware. Not to mention the local, regional, national, and world events that follow, which are super valuable. I don’t think I’ve seen any past lists regarding resources for entrepreneurs that didn’t place EO toward the top. My co-founder is a member of EO, and she’s said several times that her EO Forum has been life-changing and that the trust she’s formed with this group is priceless. In addition to Forums, the organization provides a bunch of different programs aimed at specific needs and areas of focus that any entrepreneur could use.

Startup life is full of “impossible” dreams — something Make-A-Wish embodies in a very human way. Supporting them isn’t just about giving; it’s about reminding your team what hope looks like. Tech company Atlassian has funded dozens of wishes through employee-led campaigns, showing how company culture can be both productive and profoundly kind. While we represent diverse cultures, countries, religions and backgrounds, EO binds us all together. We always pursue new ideas and perspectives, at every opportunity, because we always have a burning need to grow.

Sometimes all you need to change your trajectory is a fresh perspective. We focus support on the whole entrepreneur—beyond just the enterprise—because businesses that put people first thrive. And we believe that magic comes from the continuous sharing of one’s journey and the collective wisdom of learning from peers.
